My Pain My Own

Updated on April 26, 2012

It resides eternally in my depths

Never leaves me aside

Walks by my steps

Watches sins which I abide

Stands still Forsaken Forlorn

My beloved my love

My Pain My own

It’s loyal to me as no one could be

In moments morose

It sits by me

Feels the thorns and me collide

It lies beneath Unearthed unborn

My soulmate My lord

My pain My own

It has no query to paths that I take

It’s trust so selfless

No matter how much I shake

Rests in my wounds It’s permanent hide

It dies with me, only me It has known

Embalms me with blood

My Pain My Own

Hi Linda! Pain is indeed undeniable.. In Gibran's Words.. it is the mask of joy...

And pain prolonged is the process of healing in totality :)

Thanks so much for your wisdom

Rahul-Very powerful and moving poem on pain which finds us all at certain points in our life. It is healthy to write about the painful and darker parts of life, not just the happy parts. For me, it's healing and I hope it was for you. BTW-Great pictures to go with the poem.

rahul0324, Such a deep, interesting poem you've written here. You've expressed a truth which reminds me of Leo Tolstoy's opening lines for Anna Karenina:

"Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."

Similarly, each person's pain is unique to self. Pain does insinuate itself into life and takes hold, just as you've so effectively described in this concise, perceptive poem.

      Kind regards, Stessily

rahul, you might find this interesting. i have several friends i work with from nepal. they have nicknamed me "musay" which translates "little mouse." i don't know if you share any of the same language with them. i liked the nickname a lot and got a tattoo of a little mouse- which is pictured in my such inspired hub "tales from a mouse". since then i also got my friend raju to write out musay in nepalese, and got that tattoo'd also. my nepalese friends and i really like each other.

Such a deep perspective on pain! "It dies with me, only me It has known"...so powerful.

Sometimes, in times of dire need, the things we would rather not be associated with are often found to be our closest sustainers within us. Acknowledging it is only the first step. A very thought-provoking poem, rahul!

A beautiful enlightening comment Sasanka Sir! Indeed pain suffered at some point in man's life is responsible for redeeming him in divine ways. A very inspiring example of Maxim Gorky you have given here.

    • sasanka7 profile image

Very beautifully expressed. It touches directly to the core of the heart. Sometimes pain is one of the source of creation. This poem is not necessarily denotes that you are always engulfed with pain but a feeling of some certain stage in your life. If Maxim Gorky did not suffer in his early life, could he be able to describe it so vividly in his autobiography 'My childhood'

I liked it and voted up. thanks for sharing.

Rahul, this is moving poem and, at times, hard to read. Not because it isn't good, it is, but because I can so easily relate to it. Sometimes our pain does become our closest, best friend and we develop a love/hate relationship with our melancholy. Yes, our pain can easily stay with us to the grave if we don't find a way to evict it!
