My Reflection

My Reflection

Source

Reflections

I'm not defined by who I see
reflected in the mirror...
My definition should be sought
beneath, from something dearer.

A person's worth lies well beyond
What simple eye can view...
True beauty is reflected by
what one will say and do.

Beauty is as beauty does.
The heart reflects one's treasure.
The looking glass, though crystalline
Cannot one's virtue measure.

You can't appraise its value
By the wrap that holds a present.
A pretty face may draw the eye,
But yield a heart less pleasant.

It's beauty of the heart I seek,
that lies beyond the eye.
A loving heart is beauty that
No mirror can deny.

No, I'm not defined by what I see
reflected in the mirror...
The definition I embrace
reflects from something clearer.

I love this poem! Mirror, mirror, Word of God, reflect what is in my heart. True beauty is what's in the heart.

Beauty only lasts for so long on the exterior what matters purely is the inner beauty we posses. If one lacks inneer beauty it contradicts the outter Its ones self reflection of the heart that evolves.

Sara Writes, Thanks so much! Its funny. This is something I have known for a long time...recently, however, It finally hit home on a deeper level, concerning me...hence, this poem. I am thrilled to have captured the concept! Thanks for coming by!

What you have written is so true. It has been my experience that you can meet the most physically beautiful person, then get to know them, realize that there terrible people, and view them as “ugly.” Having a beautiful heart is far more special, and I feel you have captured this in your poem.

Another fantastic Poem. Truth written with such elegant prose. It also holds a very personal note for me. For the Cards life has dealt to me in recent years have only effected the shell not the person within. A kindly reminder at this time, and one I must remember.

Your poetry speaks what is true

for it comes from deep inside of you

For all of us to muse and be a part

of the beauty that lies within a tender heart

Looking on the outside yields very little reward

Looking on the inside, you will find the treasure horde

Your poem reflects my own personal feelings of what truly matters...the person I am inside. Thank you.
