Gazing upon the river

With the trees reflected

In the crystal clear water

I see Life

I see my life

My life has flowed

Like a river

Twisting and turning,

Never knowing

What’s around the bend

Each turn holds a discovery

Each twist

A challenge

There are scars I’ve gained

Along the river of Life

But they don’t stop the flow

Rather they add texture to the

Beauty that is reflected

In each ripple,

As are the blue skies

And golden sunlight

The scars add substance

And strength of character

They offer a foundation

For beauty and fortitude

To hold onto

The river holds

Reflections of my Life

To be shared

And never forgotten

      Sha,

I love my scars now...just " as every picture tells a story"... so does every scar...

The perspective of your scars is very soothing to me...wise, insightful, flowing, yet grounded. This is a beautiful reflection. Love, Maria

Transposing life to a river was done really skillfully. Your words flowed freely just like that river, and you done a beautiful job of describing how adversity appears but can be overcome and new strength found.

      Inspiring and beautiful.

Beckie, your approval means the world to me! Life without scars means no lessons have been learned. Life is a journey with lessons lying within each twist we come upon. We learn from them and should bear the scars we gain along the way proudly. They ain't (I know that's bad English; I'm making a point) no BOTOX for those kind of lines and I hope no one feels the need to cover them up!

This is beautiful Brave. I especially like the part where you say, "The scars add substance, And strength of character." Yes indeed. Once someone told me that when we are born, our hearts are like soft clay. By the time we are older, it is molded by all of our experiences. The clay hardens with the scars.

Why, thank you Harishprasad! It's one of the latest I've written. I don't seem to write as much poetry as I once did. I've sort of moved on to fiction. Poetry comes to me when I least expect it, so I'm sure there will be more to come.
