Never a father but always a dad.
Never my father, but always my dad.
On a brighter day when the sun doth shine,
thoughts of you come to mind, and
do you remember the day as if only yesterday,
like I do when you went away?
You closed the door and didn’t look behind,
you never felt what I felt inside, Oh how
life can be grim, but you made me laugh.
You raised my spirits with all that you have,
dark Blue eyes amongst that greying hair,
you were my star, in my heart to share,
whilst you lived, I feared no ill
but now you are gone, my life is still
a sad affair were no one can fill the gap,
No one can reach those memories I still have.
Of a young man whom I was proud to know,
his crowning glory was his red haired that showed
an indifference to temper that never cared,
whatever I did wrong as a child you bared.
Age descends in the twinkle of an eye,
and takes with it a passion for life.
But not with you my love, you stayed faithful and true
I will be forever your daughter through and through.

Stan was never my paternal father, but he was the best dad I could ever have wished for.My life is so much sadder now that he is gone, but for a brief while I knew a dad’s true love.
