My Stated Alibi

Updated on April 16, 2012

My Stated Alibi

Thing is, we tried so hard before letting go

Who says your alibis are people you know

And I tried to climb the stairs to your conventions

And I tried to climb the stairs to your ideals

I always had to look before I crossed the road

I always looked to you to share my load

Who said you were my friend just because we were together and

Who said you were my friend because we were lovers

Why is it always leverage to you

Why is it always suffering with you

Can’t you join me in my suffering

And won’t you share with me in my happiness

I’m your daydream believer, You are my newspaper

You came for levity and I sought out a saviour

And I tried to climb your neverending escalator

I really clamoured for your headspace

I will let you make your own mistakes

I will let you be yourself regardless of what it takes

I will stand at your door until you let me in

Cos you’re my alibi, you’re my stated alibi

Thing is we tried so hard before letting go

Who says your alibis are people that you know

And I tried to climb the stairs to your conventions

And I tried to climb the stairs to your ideals

Why is it always leverage to you

Why is it always suffering with you

Can't you join me in my suffering

And won't you share with me in my happiness

I will let you make your own mistakes

I will let you be yourself regardless of what it takes

I will stand at your door until you let me in

Cos you’re my alibi, you’re my stated alibi

I will stand at your door until you let me in

Cos you’re my alibi, you’re my stated alibi

I have a few favorite parts:

"I’m your daydream believer, You are my newspaper

You came for levity and I sought out a saviour

And I tried to climb your neverending escalator

I really clamoured for your headspace

Thing is we tried so hard before letting go

Who says your alibis are people that you know

And I tried to climb the stairs to your conventions

And I tried to climb the stairs to your ideals"

      and

"I will stand at your door until you let me in

Cos you’re my alibi, you’re my stated alibi"

      Also:

"Who said you were my friend just because we were together and

Who said you were my friend because we were lovers"

"Thing is, we tried so hard before letting go" I can relate to this and the friends and lovers thing very well. and trying to get in to someone's headspace. I really liked this. and it would probably make a good song.
