Inspire Me

Life can be a challenging journey.

To each their own will find their way.

One of my favorite things to do is collect quotes. I write them down and read them when I need inspiration, insight and hope... a reminder that I am human. That I am not the first and not the last to attempt and to journey.

When we get consumed in our life and start to get lost in our thoughts, we need a filter and a reminder that we are not alone in anything that we go through. Look to your right, look to your left, there is someone in this world who knows and understands what you are going through. However, our successors past is the most inviting source of incite. First of all, they have already "been there, done that". Secondly, they break down their struggles, thoughts and fears allowing us to see what we are capable of overcoming and achieving.

When I took a chance and sold everything I had to move across country, leaving one coast for another, I had the highest hopes. Nothing was going to get in my way. I was on a mission and words like, 'no', 'you can't', 'stop while you're ahead', were not going to slow me down.

But as life may have it, I was tossed to the curb and it seemed that any moment I had something good to hold onto, it was just as quickly gone.

I am still on my journey and growing stronger. Thankful to everything that I have experienced. Still reading quotes that push me to strive and excel. To love and to relent. To breathe and to embrace. I share with you now, a few of my favorite quotes, in hopes that they too will inspire you as they have inspired me.

Life is like a wave of emotions. We see the swells coming but the surf may not be so great as they get closer. Disappointed in the short coming and disappointed in the long coming. But if we are able to take each "wave of emotion" making the most of it, choosing the best waves to ride, may still keep us on top. Surfing these waves of emotion is just taking control of what you can. We already know that we do not have control over the waves but we do know that we have control over which waves we choose to ride and which waves we choose to let pass us. We also have the control of building strength and skill to take on more of these waves and gaining a better ride.

You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.

      It is amazing the influence someone can have on a person(s) by a thought, a poem, or a catch in a phrase.

      Even working with children, insight can be found in things they say.

      **Poetic Fool, (love the name by the way), I shall add this quote to my collection. It reads my heart.

      Similar influence is found in those we surround ourselves by. I believe it says a lot about a person.

      Thanks for the hub and the quotes. Collecting and memorizing quotes is a great way to motivate ourselves and pick ourselves up after a failure. One of my favorites along that line comes from Theodore Roosevelt. It's long but well worth the read:

      "It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.       I too collect quotes. I find them to be uplifting and inspirational . . . and I usually find just the ones I need when I need them.

      As a teacher, I've used quotes before in my teaching, asking the students to respond, reflect and connect in some way. It's a great to engage in deeper thinking.
