My Thought, I Write
Life can be a challenging journey.
To each their own will find their way.
One of my favorite things to do is collect quotes. I write them down and read them when I need inspiration, insight and hope... a reminder that I am human. That I am not the first and not the last to attempt and to journey.
When we get consumed in our life and start to get lost in our thoughts, we need a filter and a reminder that we are not alone in anything that we go through. Look to your right, look to your left, there is someone in this world who knows and understands what you are going through. However, our successors past is the most inviting source of incite. First of all, they have already "been there, done that". Secondly, they break down their struggles, thoughts and fears allowing us to see what we are capable of overcoming and achieving.
When I took a chance and sold everything I had to move across country, leaving one coast for another, I had the highest hopes. Nothing was going to get in my way. I was on a mission and words like, 'no', 'you can't', 'stop while you're ahead', were not going to slow me down.
But as life may have it, I was tossed to the curb and it seemed that any moment I had something good to hold onto, it was just as quickly gone.
I am still on my journey and growing stronger. Thankful to everything that I have experienced. Still reading quotes that push me to strive and excel. To love and to relent. To breathe and to embrace. I share with you now, a few of my favorite quotes, in hopes that they too will inspire you as they have inspired me.
As we have all felt that moment of despair and failure, "When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place." ~ Unknown
When the world seems to be crashing down and challenges become a sea of obstacles, remember: "Obstacles are things a person sees when he take his eyes off of his goal."
~ E. Joseph Cossman
Slowing down tends to happen but when we stop putting ourselves out there, "the only real failure in life is the failure to [truly] try." ~ Unknown
Some may call us dreamers, and that we may actually be; but if I am going to dream then I am going to dream big. Because the only "greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim to low and achieving our mark." ~ Michelangelo
"Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome." ~ Samuel Johnson
So beautiful is life, To which we forget to look.
Each day seems to carry its own season; the season of attitude. That is why I must embrace each waking day with a new outlook and with recognition of what I can and cannot do. I choose to see what I am capable of doing and achieving each day I am awake and alive.
Life is like a wave of emotions. We see the swells coming but the surf may not be so great as they get closer. Disappointed in the short coming and disappointed in the long coming. But if we are able to take each "wave of emotion" making the most of it, choosing the best waves to ride, may still keep us on top. Surfing these waves of emotion is just taking control of what you can. We already know that we do not have control over the waves but we do know that we have control over which waves we choose to ride and which waves we choose to let pass us. We also have the control of building strength and skill to take on more of these waves and gaining a better ride.
At times I want to scream, at times I want to cry, at times I want to just GIVE UP; But most of the time, I want to make it happen, overcome and SUCCEED. It is very important that we do not lose ourselves in the negative, as it is so easy to do; But rather lose ourselves in the hopes and dreams that push us each day, making our hard work into something that works.
“Nearly every man who develops an idea works it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then he gets discouraged. That's not the place to become discouraged.”
“I never failed once. It just happened to be a 2000-step process."
Thomas Alva Edison
