My Sweetness (poem)

Updated on September 24, 2015

Oh tarry here awhile with me my sweet…

Whilst from my face this fly I do now brush

Perhaps was best to lay away the treat

Or does my face improve with jelly blush

This napkin here should make quick work of this

Amazing how the stickiness doth spread

There must have been something that was amiss

A reason for this dessert covered head

I’d say I see alas no longer can

Forsooth twas I who jellied my eyes closed

To become this sugar coated man

Was not the meaning that I had proposed

The tear you see is naught for aught was learned

A friend once brushed away has now returned

You are as amazing as the dessert covered head! Your style lends such beauty to such lighthearted fun.
