By: Wayne Brown

Why can’t you just say what you mean?

Why do you have to twist it into a lie?

Why can’t you just tell it like it’s seen?

You certainly could if you would try!

Why can’t you just show us how it works?

What is it you have to hide?

Why not come clean, don’t be jerks?

We all know that you have lied!

Why can’t you just give a little clue?

Why not speak your mind?

Why not tell us, the truth is overdue?

We all know you’ve crossed ovet the line

Why don’t you do what you promised?

Why not be an honest man?

Doing this will only get you admonished

Go ahead and do what you can!

Why don’t you care about us anymore?

Why do you have to lie and cheat?

You promised to help coming in the door

Now we just want you in the street!

Why do we keep believing all the lies you tell?

Why can’t we just get some sense?

Nobody’s buying those lies that you sell

That’s no way to be a President!

@MPM...Thank you much sir, that means a lot coming from a fellow Texas poet. Of course, we live in a "target-rich" environment today. There was a time when America was a better place back when it was run by people who still believed in democracy. We need some honest folks to help us get back those days. Thanks for read! WB

@rkhyclak...bekka, if I were President, you can bet that I would be a good one because I would refuse to sell my soul to anyone on the way into the office. One of the most difficult things in this world for me to comprehend is that Americans would sell Americans down the river for their own sell gain. What a sad day is it is that we have come to that. WB

@bayoulady...don't count me out yet on that one. It will take some research but you know what they the tiger's rib are sore, shove a stick in it!

@sheila b...Yes, and to think we sent Trent Lott home for a far lesser comment. I am rapidly coming to the point that I cannot tolerate a lawyer in my midst. A lawyer by definition is nothing more than a catepillar who has not yet morphed into a moth. WB

Don't forget to include good ole boy Georgie. He's the biggest liar of them all. Why does everyone blame Obama who inherited Dubyas disasters? God Almighty couldn't clean up that mess. Oh, never mind, I know why.

Well, Bill Clinton explained it all when he said Byrd only joined the kkk to get elected. Clinton thought he was giving a sensible excuse, imagine that! When what he was really saying is a politician will lie about anything and everything. And that's OK, in his book!

Suggestion: I'd like to see you write one about the promises that this administration made (WISH I could use italics here....)about no back room hush hush deals, and how he'd do lots of town meetings.......

Fantastic poem, Wayne. I'm so tired of all the lying-I don't even know if a politician would know the truth should it come up and slap them in the face. On another note, you and Charlie just may get my vote :-P

@Tom Whitworth...I couldn't either Tom..that is the reason I put both of them in the picture! WB

@eovery...I am beginning to understand...why premediatated lie???? WB

I wish you had mentioned some specific lies. I'm not sure either which one you are talking about.

Politicians have to lie, if they told the truth, we would shoot them, not elect them. C'mon man!

You and Charlie in the White House? How many women would it take to keep you guys happy??? LOL.

This is why BO has his teleprompter to keep his lies in line.

      Keep on hubbing!

I hope someone can email this poem to Obama to wake up before it's to late. He is lying like so many others before him. Being a politician is a license to lie, why do you think most of them are ex lawyers. The question here who is available, capable and able to be the President for all Americans not just for the few who placed him in power.

Wayne, it's time for someone like you to run. Someone honest who can answer the American people straight up. Awesome poem!
