Yeah!
Yeah, I'm from New York City!
I grew up one of its Finest, So Pretty!
Around Noble and Story,
Attended P.S. 107 down the street.
Always at the Blue Truck,
Chasing after Mr. Softee,
Running down the lane,
Wanting to be with my friends -
Karen, Pam, Junebug, Smitty, the boy with 100 pairs of sneakers.
Monique, pampered by her brothers and her mother,
There was Larry, & Lisa, she had a cool last name Qurindongo,
And was my Double Dutch jumping & candy eating partner!
Can't forget Brenda,or Lance her son,
I remember his cute smile and how he used to run (when his sickle cell anemia didn't act up.)
Life took away his chance to live.
Now I'm hitting him back with this chance to give
Memories, images, stories and unforgettable times,
Of my New York City,
My home, the Big Apple, a place I LOVE!
Echoes hit me when I travel down my block,
But landmarks still stand.
New York City's Finest roll by searching,
I wonder if they're looking for my friends.
I hear the Echoes.
I wonder where life has taken them.
Yeah, I'm from New York City!
I want to go home to New York City!
