Nativity: A Poem

There were no Christmas lights in the town of Bethlehem,

But there were stars above to watch over them,

As many weary people traveled to get closer,

To be counted in the census as ruled by Caesar,

No one took pity on Joseph and the pregnant Mary,

No charity or homeless center was there to lighten the load she carried,

The couple finally took solace in a humble stable,

She wrapped Jesus in a blanket, keeping him as warm as she was able,

Carolers did not greet them on that first Christmas night,

But there were angels who announced His birth, surrounded by a great light,

After the heavenly host praised God, they left in a hurry,

The shepherds who heard the good news quickly scurried,

To spread the tidings far and wide,

With peace and joy they could not hide,

So, when you're hustling this holiday and feeling overdone,

Remember the perfect gift of God's only Son.

Beautiful Christmas poem. If only we really remembered and lived every day by the meaning of that perfect gift. Take care.
