"Nature's Final Act" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Nature's Final Act"

Technology, a runaway train

Loaded with ghosts

Speeding

No destination

Barreling through green

Leaving waves of ash in its wake

Surfing over purple coagulated hearts

Gigabytes store the soul

A small park whimpers in the middle of concrete trees

Grass fights through brick

Stretching, clawing to get a bite of food

A mother unfertile with no milk, spins and twirls

Children laugh and play

Never knowing the pain of the future

Cognitive pods and vessels sink to the bottom of her blue closet

Destined to die

No use for their skins

Shoes that no longer match her outfit

Indifferent from abuse

Growing ever more cold and dark

A used up whore

Too tired to replenish

She lies

She shows us the sun

Her wrath, justified

She waits to freshen up as tall grey bodies sell a numb demise

Her canvas soon wiped clean

Ready to start a new dance

A hand reaches out to love her all over again and again and again and again
