New american farmer

Updated on January 16, 2012

Food prices are rising and no rhyme can envision,

where the food goes from here,

it all comes from where???

family's able to support themselves...

extras given to share,

co-op opportunities all together,

healing with food... food healing air,

screen-lit daze and a puppy dog stare...

lost from the homestead young pup starts to care,

where the next meal comes from and is it safe to eat,

run to the hills the pup huffs running for his life... dirt blistering paw feet,

past the birds and bee's thru the fields of misquotes blood, a DDT deet treat,

craving meat as young jewels howl,

brother bear is startled berry scatting by the young pups growl,

moving by quickly he's off to see the owl...

who, who... who goes there hoots the old grey owl,

pup scans the forest for the wise guys disguise,

clear cut and dry the pup locks eye to eye,

where has our home gone as owl starts to cry...

pup says we've lost the people their fighting for their lives,

sister bee overhears the conversation and workers pour from the hive,

they buzz young pup and show him a new dance... the jive,

pup listens like a keeper wanting to stay alive, not yet ready to fear the dark reaper,

marking the spot for his return, leg lift flow starts with a burn... hanging out his K-9 hairy peeper,

enlightened load pup is on the roam,

searching the land for the one who took his home,

panting north, off to Nome... aces high

~Healy~

It reminds me of a TS Eliot poem, except there was no leg lift to mark the spot where the pup learned to dance the jive. That pup needs a Zoot Suit, a gold watch and a ticket back to rural living.

thank you for reading, the task is at hand and not easy to swallow, woven into the threads of our history is misery... will it ever change is the only mystery

This was most interesting on several levels as it is chock full with current conditions woven into the story, not an easy task. Well done!
