Night Mares.

Updated on March 15, 2017

My past life revisited

Source

saddle up it's gonna be a long night

Head saddled between

two goosedown pillows

strong body

cinched in tight

beneath the quilted cover

white knuckled fingers

grip the wadded sheet ball

like a saddle horn

about to blow ....

feet spaced out

legs bowed as if

wrapped around a stallion

kicking at what's blanketed

spurred by subconcious impulses

sonombulent thoughts

have no reins

thus muscles lock tight

riding the back trails of fear

heels leave deep impressions

indented in the surface

over which they pass

nostrils flare and snort

occasionally as

eyes shuttered by sleep's blind

rove back and forth

a metronome of marbled motivation

teeth grind porcelain slivers

chomping at the bit

sweat flying like the beads of

a rosary broken

mane of hair wildly

tossed and rumpled

starless night with a

hard chilling breeze

inching fingernails

over the blackboard of the sky

with a draft hoarse wail

I ride a range of nocturnal directions

on night mares hell bent

for the shadows that claim one's soul

and I can't giddy up till dawn

Some interesting imagery in these short sharp lines. Good job.
