No Longer Beautiful (a Poem)
I'm tired of beauty
I'm tired of its hate
I'm tired of its false affections
I'm tired of its flawed perfection
I'm tired of its desire for adoration
I'm tired of all its corruption
I'm tired of its transient glory
I'm tired of its ransomed flattery
I'm tired of its deception
I'm tired of its schemes
I'm tired of its nightmares
I'm tired of its dying dreams
Beauty, when turned into a prize
turns into a masked prostitution
and a poison to the eyes
That's why I'm tired
Deceived but now has learned
For it wasn't beauty after all.
