Not a Prisoner

Updated on June 19, 2013

I have been controlled

But I won't be anymore

I will follow God's foot steps and be free

For all of my sins, please forgive me

Forgive and forget, how can this be?

I don't know but I know God can set you free

I will not be limited

I won't feel troubled and I will love more

No more bondage, no more feeling chained to the floor

It feels so good to not feel bad

It even feels good to not feel sad

Sad about this and sad about that

Sad about what's said and done as a matter of fact

Why did I let them do those things to me

I was so blinded by darkness and could not see

Now I see all the things that God has done

Oh what a dark place I have come from

It took some time but now I see

That through God's words I am set free

I'm usually not a fan of poetry only because it takes some skill which is hard for me to do myself. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. It is very well written and relatable.
