No More To Give - A Poem

Updated on December 9, 2011

No More To Give

I found you when I needed to

We had something to give one another

But now I’m standing here remembering

The words forever echoing

Nothing lasts forever

Nothing lasts forever

I must dissolve you with my tears

Our time together ended

Don’t touch me

Don’t touch me

Watch me walk away

I’m stronger now because of you

There is no more to give

I can pretend you’re just a call away

‘Cause your voice is with me every day

But I know, I know that you are gone

I still talk to you and wait for an answer

I pray for you even though you are in heaven

But you’ve gone, you’ve gone

Everybody thinks it doesn’t matter

Everybody wants to live forever

But I know, I know it’s better where you are

Now you only love

Forgiving comes so easily

Hate’s not even a memory

Now that you have gone

What happened to inspire this poem?

I have had a few troubled relationships and one in particular cut right to the bone because even though we loved each other we were never happy together. Our relationship ended bitterly and I have always regretted things I said and still feel the weight of hurtful words said to me. I found out he had died in a car accident and realized suddenly that I would never have the opportunity of saying sorry to him. I had always imagined bumping into him and talking over our good times and of course apologizing but it will never be. :(

Thank you Kenneth for your praise and I do hope you are feeling better soon. I too have been very busy and have not checked my hubs for a while. There is so much talent here in hubland. Wishing you and your family all the very best in 2012 as well. :)

Christine, voted up and all the way on this hub which is masterfully-composed and written by one of Hub's most-talented writers. YOU! Admire your talent and contributions to Hubs. I offer an apology for my not being here as much as I should to read your marvelous works. I am sorry. I am not in good health and I was busy in the previous months of finishing up some projects that I need to tie up so in case my health worsens. I will do better. I DO Value YOU as a follower and a friend. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and a PeaceFILLED 2012./////Kenneth

Christine that is so sad that he died. I'm sorry to hear that. I know where you are coming from with the relationship and words being said that shouldn't have been said. Voted up. Pretty poem.
