Quotes by Sri Chinmoy

“A single thought
Has the power of a bullet:
Either it can destroy you
Or it can help you
Immensely.” -Sri Chinmoy.

"“If your life does not give joy
To others,
Then how can you expect
Your heart to give any joy
To you?” - Sri Chinmoy.

Despair. A Sonnet

The flame has now dimmed and the curtains drawn,

I know not where, my harmony’s gone.

My breath suffocates, on my confusion,

I feel the cold freeze, from my lover’s hand.

O Love, this discordant pain is intense;

Insecurity’s real and fears immense.

The ego’s division, stabs at my Soul;

Anxiety’s weight, too much to control!

Once washed clean, by Thy glimmering Delight;

Became complacent, then shadowed by night.

Come sweet mirror, oh Light of tomorrow;

Erase or remove, my clouds of sorrow.

What sayest my Darling, is wrong with me?

Bound and fettered, how I long to be free!

Quotes from a Seer

“Be kind, be all sympathy,
For each and every human being
Is forced to fight against himself.”-Sri Chinmoy.

"“What comes to me
Unmistakably
Is what I carefully
Or carelessly
Invite.” -Sri Chinmoy.

Be a Light unto yourself; you will be a Light unto others

Quotes from A Seer

“When there is a feeling of supremacy, you can forget about harmony.” -Sri Chinmoy

We travel alone and also in company. The latter is necessary for our joys, our sorrows, our experiences of duality: Good and bad; light and darkness; thorns and roses ...

All the while, the Beloved is shaping and moulding us - like a potter - to ensure that ultimately, we become the beautiful and candescent vase, that we are meant to be. Along the way, faith, hope, the experience of love and other aspects of the prototype of the divine, becomes necessary in order to grow.

While I may wish to take you with me, I cannot. Each one walks his/her own Path and gets the experiences from Love, necessary or crucial to unfold his/her wings and fly. God speed!

      My answer to the despair question is: not for long.

      All through my life, when things seem to go wrong, I go inside and ask: what is the common factor? The answer has always been: me. Whether knowingly or not, we "allow" or invite what comes our way. Not so with all things (such as rape), but most all else. We either put ourselves in the company of unsavory fellows or carry on a self-destructive path. This is what I mean by "allow".

      When we consciously govern the way - towards goals, dreams, etc. - we "invite" the end result. Once we face these facts about ourselves, we can make adjustments to get back on track. To me, this has always been the remedy for despair.

      Thank you, Chris. Appreciated.

      The metaphysical poet address the longings of the Soul, whether it's through despair, Love, isolation and loneliness...

      This person (Soul) is basically saying that he/she is experiencing some tough times. The Heart becomes void and the light goes out and so harmony is missing. Spirituality is balance, equipoise, equilibrium ... serenity, tranquility, Silence, Peace ...

      Your poem raises an important question, at least for me..."I know not where my harmony's gone." Maintenance is better than searching after it's gone.

      Sri Chimnoy...“Be kind, be all sympathy,

      For each and every human being

      Is forced to fight against himself.”

      Awesome thoughts for today. Thank you.
