Obama's Lament

Updated on August 24, 2014

By: Wayne Brown

They say I'm not a citizen being born in Indonesia

But I claim Hawaii or any place to please ya

I won this election and I ain't about the quit

And you ain't never seein' my real birth certificate

Yeah I cut my teeth on Chicago-style politics

We'll stab you in the back, just one of many tricks

And now that I am elected to the Presidential Rail

It seems only natural my Senate seat I'd sell

Spendin’ all money, don’t have a need to fudge it

Open government checkbook, ain’t got no budget

America’s future isn’t lookin’ so nice or rosy

Thanks to me, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi

I don’t want no flags painted on my airplane

I much prefer my own decals and bear no shame

And you can forget me with my hand over my heart

All that patriotism and stuff, I do not choose to be part

Don’t come ‘round criticizing my actions again and again

I don’t like damn critics for my skin is kind of thin

And if you persist in it and push me really hard

I’ll get Reverend Jackson to play the race card

I got me a chief of staff slippery than a slope

There aren't many things with which he can't cope

He's helped move things along just a little faster

Subscribing to the policy - never waste a good disaster

The CIA was sayin’ that I couldn’t shut down Gitmo

Them poor boys down ‘nar ain’t got no where to go

But close it I will, I got me a very good plan

I will free them up to again terrorize this land

I finally rammed through Clinton’s health overhauls

Strong-armed it with my comrade Congressional

Though Americans don’t want change from the norm

We now have us comprehensive medical reform

The black oil keeps rolling off the ocean floor low

I blame BP’s inability to stem the ghastly flow

We need yet another change from this norm

America needs comprehensive energy reform

The illegal ones are coming from the land to the south

I offer no help but to run my promising little mouth

Arizona needs to just quit it and let the man run the show

Give them illegals the amnesty, some welfare, some dough

I blame ol' BP for the timing of this oil spill

It works out perfect to pass my Green Energy bill

And if Arizona's immigration law is illegally born

I'll get myself comprehensive immigration reform

The war on terror was going way too well in Afghan

We might just win if our forces stuck to that plan

But let’s not be too hasty with conclusions foregone

You haven’t yet read an item in this month’s Rolling Stone

Israel and Britain seem a little bit more than upset

You would think that I have hedged on a bet

But their mouths will really fall down to the floor

When I show them the future my plan has in store

Community organizer is where I gained my knowledge

Learned the virtues of socialism while in days of college

Brilliant lawyer, former senator, with a Muslim attitude

And in case you haven’t noticed, I think a little shrewd

My socialist buddies create controversy and clash

The ones who insist on just one more public Bush bash

And when I find blaming Bush to be at a loss

Well then I try to nail old Dick Cheney to the cross

The media loves me except that damn old Fox News

All their little stories just give me the old blues

I’ve made it known clearly that I don’t like their guff

If they got any brains they’ll soon quit all that stuff

Everyone agrees that I have made some history

Rising to this office, a young black man like me

But my bubble's been burst and it causes me contention

Tthey say the first black President was really Bill Clinton

I went up to Canada where the G20 meet

Everybody was upset, took to rioting in the street

When I said “keep spending” they were all about to choke

They claim that policy is what got them all broke

My public approval rating is in an all time miserable low

Looks like some of voters are more than ready for me to go

But I got two more years yet so they better think twice

I just might turn this place into a socialist paradise

@cathylynn99...Thank you for that nice compliment, Cathy. it is nice to see that you can appreciate the effort that went into writing the poem...your politics or not. As an aside, at least from my perspective, it is not just about a birth certificate, it is more about a government which failed to adequately or accurate assure that this candidate or any candidate for the office was qualified. I have not seen anyone step forward outside of the White House staff to assure the American people that a process was indeed followed. That frightens me and disappoints me greatly. Thanks again. WB

i'm a liberal who can't believe people are still talking about the birth certificate, but voted up for the sheer talent.

@kathryn1000...I think that you live in a country that is somewhat socialized but not so much that it has reached to levels of a communistic society. America is a great nation primarily because it has a middle class of working people who pay the bulk of the tax bills in America. The rich always have their loopholes and always will. Extreme socialism or might I say communism will destroy the middle class ambition in America leaving only two classes....the elite rich who will run the country and the working poor who will be taxed for most of what they produce. The middle class will slowly join that rank as the tax bill for more and more things become higher and higher. America has always had some form of socialized medicine in the form of Medicare and Medicaid which are fine programs if they were not so ineptly run by our government. At the same time, our legislators and our courts turn a blind eye to the need for tort reform to remove the heavy burden of frivilous lawsuits from the the process. This is a big factor driving the annual escalation of healthcare in the USA and continues to go on unchecked. The national healthcare bill will not lower the cost of anything but simply become part of the handout process used by politicians to buy votes and paid for on the back of the middle-class taxpayer. Already estimates are being made that the average American who currently has health insurance will pay up to a whooping 20% more and receive worse care in the process. The government knows nothing about the medical field yet is more than willing to administer the medical process in America and let the taxpayers foot the bill. We have politicians in Washington now just chewing at the bits to cast the broad net of immigration reform and offer amnesty to up to 20 million illegal immigrants already in this country and more come every day. Add these to the handout rolls of those who will pay nothing for healthcare and let the middle class taxpayer bear the burden. Soon, it is easy to see why socialism and communism eventually fall into poverty...there is no incentive to work! Thanks for the comments Kathyrn...all the best! WB

If we were as good at solutions as we are at complaining than we wouldn't be in this fix. WE have a vote, the Corporations have the money. We elect them; they buy them. We lose. Blame whoever you want but don't forget to duck and cover.

Blady...we just need to get enough seats to gridlock the Congress in November and that will shut a lot of things down. Even if Obama is too dumb to notice, we have those folks running scared regardless of where they are from. We may have scared old Bryd into premature death at 92...what an atrocity! WB

Oh , It was good....very good....(what you said) . The "nerve " is that I am so disgusted with what I have seen.Louisiana is still trying to struggle back to her feet from Katrina and a few other destructive hurricanes...AND HE IS GOING TO TAKE HIS OWN SWEET TIME,NOT BOTHERING TO TALK TO ANYONE DOWN HERE? So Louisiana is knocked to her knees again. It will probably be a generation from now before our shrimp boats and other coastal industries will recover, if even then.

If this oil spill was happening in in Maine, I feel he would be all over it!That is the nerve you hit that I was talking about!

I was ready , even though I did not vote for him to have his back, defend him , and to give him the benefit of the doubt. MY feeling that he was too inexperienced is proving over and over to be true, be it economics, war, you name it...he is just not equipped.I'm just fed up.Maybe yet, he will get a clue and be the president we hoped he would be. We can only pray.

@bayoulady...I hope it was a "good nerve" I hit. You comments are right on with regard to how I feel about the current President and his administration. This man has described our Constitution with words and phrases that come right out of the goals of the Communist Party. I don't see that as an accident at all or a coincidence for that matter. Thank you for your comment and please drop by again soon! WB

Really hits a nerve with me. It flows really well , is current , and does not exagerate. While I am proud that America has reached the place where electing a man is not about his race, this rant is not about race. It is about the man and his unacceptable vision for our nation.

      Well done!

Wayne Brown 7 years ago from Texas is refreshing to see someone who thinks for themselves first and comes to rational conclusions. I didn't write this to make fun of Mr. Obama as a person, that would be cruelty. I wrote it because he is at the center of all the frustration I feel with how our government is operating at the present. I am glad to see that you are lookin at it for yourself and reaching a similar conclusion. We are Americans first and foremost and we, the people, need to do what is right to protect our nation for the long run. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again! WB

Two more years is a long time to cause more damage to your now already existing problems, led by a leader who they can't even find a legal birth certificate from. Was he born in Hawaii or Indonesia. Socialist you say? A student of Marxism could he be? some think so. Conspiracy theories abound, but what if they are true?

Do you think the American people will have the blindfolds taken off before then? I bet you hope so WB and so do many others. Great Hub my friend, keep voicing your opinion, the people are listening.
