ON AGE: A POEM

Updated on December 6, 2012

As quietly as leaves fall from the tree
So tranquil and calm are the changes wrought by age
No unnatural philosophy for eternal glee
Or peace is possible through the words of some sage
Autumn leaves, so does winter for spring to follow
And distress shall melt away like tallow
Time shall heal all wounds and allow
Men to reap what they sow
Sorrow seasons, defeats strengthen
And maturity blends slow with youth's rash shades
For the mind to open and broaden
Hope peeps in and bitterness fades
So let's like the notes of a gently hummed song
Keep singing and cheering and getting along
What we cannot change, we must endure
Life's like morning dew, short lived yet so pure

I love this. We can't change time, but we can endure it. So very true...

A lovely, philosophical poem. We change the things we can and just put up with what we can't. The reward will come at the end.
