October 2016 - Top 5 Must Read (Paranormal) Romance/Erotica Novels ***NO SPOILERS***

Updated on October 15, 2016

Paranormal Romance Novels For Halloween

Since it's Halloween at the end of this month and I'm a big fan of paranormal romance novels (they're still my favorite after all these years), I thought it would be fun to read and review only paranormal romance novels.

But I didn't want to review just novels about vampires and werewolves, which most paranormal romance novels about, I wanted to read novels about all different kinds of creatures this month. So there's novels here with psychics, vampires, werecats, angels, mermaids, and even more things. I hope you enjoy my reviews and are able to find some cool books to read on your own based on my reviews.

"Visions Of Heat" By Nalini Singh

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed the first novel in this series, so I wasn't sure how Nalini Singh could possibly make the second novel just as good.

In the previous book, Sascha had such interesting psychic powers. It was fun learning what an E-psy was. It was such a unique designation that I was certain that the psychic in this book couldn't possibly have as interesting of powers, but I was wrong.

Faith is an F-psy, which means she can predict the future, Psy with her powers have a tendency to go insane. They live in isolation, unable to handle physical touch from anyone, so falling in love for Faith presents some definite physical challenges.

I enjoyed reading about Quinn and the crazy ways he pushed her. They're definitely a case of two opposites being attracted to one another.

I didn't know what was going to happen the whole time I was reading the book. It's definitely a page turner.

A Psy/Changeling novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Shards of Hope, Shield of Winter, and Heart of Obsidian..."the alpha author of paranormal romance" (Booklist).
Used to cold silence, Faith NightStar is suddenly being tormented by dark visions of blood and murder. A bad sign for anyone, but worse for Faith, an F-Psy with the highly sought after ability to predict the future. Then the visions show her something even more dangerous—aching need…exquisite pleasure. But so powerful is her sight, so fragile the state of her mind, that the very emotions she yearns to embrace could be the end of her.
Changeling Vaughn D’Angelo can take either man or jaguar form, but it is his animal side that is overwhelmingly drawn to Faith. The jaguar’s instinct is to claim this woman it finds so utterly fascinating and the man has no argument. But while Vaughn craves sensation and hungers to pleasure Faith in every way, desire is a danger that could snap the last threads of her sanity. And there are Psy who need Faith’s sight for their own purposes. They must keep her silenced—and keep her from Vaughn…

"Angels' Blood" By Nalini Singh

My Thoughts

Usually I think of angels as light and fluffy. That is, until I read this book by Nalini Singh. Most of us think of vampires as vicious, powerful creatures. They're tame compared to the angels in this novel. They're basically the angels' minions.

Angels in this novel are not mere angels, they are more like gods with wings. They control everyone and everything. They're also beautiful and irresistible to human beings.

Nalini Singh writes this well. Raphael is both attractive and terrifying in this novel, but luckily Elena is a good match for him.

There's a lot of world building in this book (which is one thing I love about Nalini Singh's novels.) There's a lot of romantic and steamy moments as well. And there's a murderous angel through out the entire novel to make it that much more interesting.

Nalini Singh introduces readers to a world of beauty and bloodlust, where angels hold sway over vampires.

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux is hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael. But this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other—and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn’t destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break.

"Darkness Awakened" By Stephanie Rowe

My Thoughts

Stephanie Rowe has a big imagination that I appreciate. The other novels that I reviewed on this page had paranormal creatures that we are all familiar with. Stephanie Rowe, on the other hand, has created humans with supernatural powers that are unique to just her. It's really special to find someone who brings something new to this genre. I got addicted to reading her book and discovering more about her world really quickly.

The mystery surrounding the two main characters kept me intrigued as well, trying to put the pieces together and figure out what was truly going on.

I really liked the romance between the two main characters and their dynamic. Quinn will be destroyed, because he is a Calydon, if he meets and falls in love with his soul mate, so seeing him try to resist Grace and how the chemistry between them was something they could not fight, made the story that much better.

I loved it.

Praised by JR Ward as a "paranormal star!," New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Rowe rivets readers with her thrilling entry into the dangerous, sensual world of the Calydon warrior, where lust rules, honor thrives, and death looms over all. No warrior is safe from his own darkness, or from the woman destined to love and destroy him.

When his blood brother goes missing, immortal warrior Quinn Masters will break every rule of his kind to save him, including teaming up with the sensuous, courageous woman destined to be his ultimate destruction.

Haunted by a brutal past, Illusionist Grace Matthews will risk everything to rescue her kidnapped sister, even if it means putting her life in the sinfully capable hands of an immortal warrior whose ravaging kisses and intense passion propel her ruthlessly toward a fateful destiny she can't afford to believe in.

The Legend of the Calydons: The Calydons are a race of ancient immortals cursed with a dark side. Each Calydon is destined to meet his soul mate, to be so drawn to her that he is unable to resist bonding with her through the rituals of his race, but their destiny is to destroy each other and all they care about the moment their bond is complete.

"Her Vampire Lover" By Caridad Pineiro

My Thoughts

This is a shorter story than the rest of the books on this page.

Sonja has been hurt in her past, but has remained pretty innocent all of her life. Which is why it was shocking for her to find herself suddenly romantically entangled with a strange man she met on a train, one who turns out to be a vampire.

It reads a lot like a quick erotica story, except the characters and supernatural elements are more fleshed out than most quick erotica stories.

I really enjoyed it and recommend it if you're looking for a quick, easy read this month.

American high school teacher Sonja Dubcek hopes her vacation in Prague will be filled with beauty, history, and maybe a little romance. But reality proves better than fantasy when a chance encounter with a sinfully sexy count turns her journey into an erotic adventure.

Gregori has never met a woman who arouses his desire - and his vampire's hunger - the way that Sonja does. After only one taste, he craves more than just her flesh and blood. He invites her to be his guest, but soon fears what he might do to keep her with him forever.

"Siren's Secret" By Debbie Herbert

My Thoughts

This novel is obviously part paranormal and part romance novel, but it's also somewhat of a crime drama.

The characters are all well-developed. The author goes deep into their backgrounds and tells the story of how they got where they are now, from their points of view.

Both the sheriff and the mermaid are damaged. Their pasts get in the way of them trusting each other and falling in love.

The most surprising parts though, was how the author actually went into the murderers point of view. He was disgusting and did horrible things, but she also showed his human side. Like, he has a dog that is so ugly that no one else loves it and he loves that dog so much (brings it with him everywhere), despite the fact that he hates all human beings. It was quite disturbing to read about (in a good way) because she took something that seemed like a very nice thing (loving a dog) and gave it to an evil character. It made me so uncomfortable since I happen to adore dogs as well.

But I appreciated her character development in this way. All the characters were real and had unique personalities (and life stories.)

In Debbie Herbert's debut novel, there are two secrets, each one with a deadly consequence…

Shelly Connors's worlds—on land and in the sea—are turned upside down when an evening swim turns into a nightmare. On a sweltering night deep in the bayou, the mystical mermaid witnesses a horrifying act. With a monstrous killer now hot on her trail, her life and the lives of her kin are in jeopardy.

Terrified of becoming the next victim, Shelly has no choice but to turn to Sheriff Tillman Angier. Tillman has had his intense gray eyes on the sultry honey-haired beauty for a while. The feelings are mutual…and impossible to ignore. But he's determined to solve the murders, and he knows Shelly's hiding something. Can she trust him with her deepest secret?
