"Odd Ball" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Odd Ball"

Haunted by the ghosts that we used to be

Thoughts of yester-you thoughts of yester-me

Living moments forever and ever and yet never again

Time; spent on candied mountains, sun filled fields with friends

A Norman Rockwell picture listening to Rockwell, cuz it was the 80's

I was a kid and it was a trend

I always feel like somebody's watching me too

The social panopticon

Or is it

Your conscience

Are you conscience of it?

Your self

Talking to ya 24/7/365

Prisoners of our own mind

Encased in bone

One brain

The lunatic is in us all, it speaks alone

Thoughts bouncing off pink padded walls

It's all we know

The dark recesses

The constant echoing voice

The one you hear now in your head

The one that you take to bed

When you pull up the covers and plot and scheme

How good can my tomorrow be, how big can I dream?

Ya see it

We are all mad

To be alive is such

A wonderful memory slipping my mind

Slipping

Slipping

Slipping

A wonderful tale buried in the sands of time

Slipping

Slipping

Slipping

Down

Down

Down

And away to that

Odd place in space

I like the line that says living forever and ever, yet never again. It reminds me of my past memories that will only ever live again in my memories.

You got it Dana, that was my favorite line too. The power of recollections.
