Ode To Fall....

Where I live, the fall season is short but glorious.

The first cool nights give way to a visible breath of morning.

The lush greens of summer transform into a splendid array of colors.

Summer's beaches empty of bathers, given over to pensive strollers.

The fall harvests of fruits lend themselves to the warm indoors aroma of pies.

The last production of the garden is gathered for fall feasts.

Footballs fly and runners run, while other athletes strain to prepare.

Heavier clothes are put in readiness for what is yet to come.

Short, or long, this third season is ours for now, and for our memories.

Enjoyed reading your thoughts of Fall. A gracefully written Hub about Autumn, a season that has always enchanted poets, and writers.

Oh how I long for it --- In the desert here we have no real fall and it will be 100 here today.

shraddhachawla Surely each season has its own charms, but Fall and its signs of Nature going to its rest, has its own unique spell-binders.

Ericdierker - Our temperature currently sits at a very pleasant 70 F., but I could see that ".... visible breath of morning" this morning when the temperature was closer to 40 F. Fall is falling, thankfully at its own slow rate. Earlier this week there was a thin coating of overnight ice on the windshield of my vehicle, quickly melted with the rise of the morning's sun. More will follow. Meanwhile I will enjoy these precious days of Fall.

I feel the spirit of fall in this poem. I like it a lot.

Your poem is short but captures all the wonderful things I love about Fall. This time of year is great for walking the beach in shorts and a sweatshirt... yes, it is empty of sun bathers but now lots of room to walk.

Ryem - Thanks, and all the things you find to be the spirit of Fall are on the way.

teaches12345 - I admit I couldn't think of more things about Fall to add, but I'm sure others can come up with some. Thanks for reading another one of mine.

Fall is my favorite season actually--and I love the autumnal poetry that accompanies it!

aviannovice - Boy! Fall is falling all around us as the leaves, rain, wind, hail, and a coming frost will pretty much seal the deal and make the way for Winter to put the frost on the pumpkins.
