Ode To My Dishwasher

Oh, great dishwasher, how wonderful art thou?

Stopping me from feeling like a handwashing sow.

Your greatness is in making my dishes so clean,

saving me from scrubbing them until they gleam.

For my family appeared so big I perceived,

upon every dirty bowl and cup I received.

Oh dishwasher, I used to stay up so late,

scrubbing and rinsing every used plate.

Oh dishwasher, you are a fantastic invention,

because of your wrinkly finger prevention.

Now, unexpected guests are welcome to come,

for when they arrive my dishes are done.

Oh dishwasher you have spared me much time,

So that I may read or write a rhyme.

Dear dishwasher, I now no longer think,

that I spend too much time at the kitchen sink.

Oh, my lovely dishwasher, if I may be so bold,

to tell you you're worth your weight in gold.

For you great dishwasher, have given me the time,

to sit back and relax with a glass of wine.

Excellent poem. I like those kinds of poems that highlight the virtues of inanimate objects. Well done.

A poetic tribute to an appliance we now all take for granted!

In the US, our politicians have ordered phosphates, a key ingredient, removed from our dishwasher detergent, and now our dishes are not as clean and shiny:

When I lived in the US I always took the Dishwasher for granted. But after moving to Serbia, it became obvious that the Dishwasher is a "rarity". Our current home has one, but I have yet to see a clothes drier !!!

I loved this. Why? Because so many, many of us "know" the effects of everything you're expressing. Your language was very creatively deliberate in each line. Big thumbs up. Thanks for the morning smile!
