The real deal

Ode to Chocolates. A Sonnet-Ode

I first saw you on my baby sister’s face,

In the sunset of the evening.

She was licking her fingers,

Cute tongue darting in and out, like lovers,

Enjoying your sweet, dark liquid from around her lips.

Tempted, I grabbed a bit of you and tasted…

Ummmm! So succulent! So alluring!

Now oblivious to the expected cries of the five-yr. old,

I held on as you tantalised my taste buds,

Charmed your way into my stomach like sugarcane juice.

Only more addictive, scrumptious, persuasive…,

As I grab your remnants from my little sister's hand.

Ah! My dark chocolate! How you soothe my stresses,

On long weary journeys, of unrequited love.

      Ah. You found one. Excellent!

Use the dark ones. Not so tasty but good for you. Thanks.

Great work, now I want some chocolate. And it has been proven to relieve stress and is good in moderation for health, especially dark chocolate. This was a delicious article. And now I must find myself a piece of chocolate.

This is such a diversion from your usual fare, Manatita. I love it! I guess I'm weird; I don't have an affinity for chocolate like many people and most women do.

A co-worker (whose office is next to mine) and I both keep candy dishes on our desks so our officemates can help themselves. Hers always has chocolate in it. Right now, mine has Whoppers malted milk speckled eggs in it. That tells you something, huh?

This is humorous, Manatita! It was very nice to read an ode to chocolate, which is one of my friends.

I am not an addict. I very rarely come across chocolates. Only to gift somebody, I purchase it. When my sons were small, we used to purchase at times for them.

The poem is very alluring and nice.

Funny, I thought of that, so I made her three years old. LOL. Anyway, the purpose here was to do a lite one; a humorous one. My first chocolate one is funny, but for the second, I deliberately wanted to add more elegance; more panache ... (chuckle) Thank you so much!

      Me, too Dee,

God's blessings in return and so nice to hear from you! Still active? Yes, the bar set by the experts changes from time to time. Thank you so much and have a great weekend.

Praise God it's mostly at work. Thank you so much!

Didn't I send you one? My 'sis' is in Texas and I only hear when I write. So many of my friends are like that. They like to hear but they do not write.

I almost used that word in the poem.(succulent) Wish I had now. Ha ha. Have a great weekend, my Dear.

Chocolate, the succulent sweet that I crave! Did you buy your sis a box of chocolates for Valentine Day? Good for you!

Nice piece here my friend. They say that chocolate may well be a healthy addition to our diets and actually help prevent some medical problems. Of course, things are always changing and coffee is harmful one minute, chocolate is not good for you...then all of a sudden, they are so wonderful. Let's enjoy our coffee and chocolate and remember that everything we eat or drink is okay within a limit of intake. Blessings my friend. whonu

Taking candy from a baby -- how bad is that? Lol. I do not keep chocolate in the house. Or should I say, if there is chocolate in the house -- just give it ten minutes and there won't be any.

      Nicely done friend.
