Ode to The Newborn: A Sonnet.

“A thing of beauty, is a joy forever.” Says, Keats.

Such is your opalescent glow,

Upon entering this cosmic flow.

Like sweet-scented candles, glowing on leaves of balm;

Floating across a fragrant pool of jasmines

On a moonlit night,

So too, do you stir my spirit,

Thrill my heart, and elevate my joy.

Newness, innocence, light … purity immaculate.

O Breath of the Supernal Truth,

As you sleep restfully,

In the cradle of your tomorrow’s sun,

Do resonate your virtues deep within;

Illuminate my darkness-mind, and grant me Peace.

– Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 12/8/13. Copyrighted.

      I recently wrote about this very subject. The innocence of a young child....qualities we sorely need as adults.

      You said it beautifully my friend.

      blessings always

      Beautiful! With your permission, I would like to add this to my grandson's scrapbook--giving you credit, of course. It was not there when he arrived, but it will be there by the time he can read it. Thank You!

      You have used every word that describes the feelings I have when holding my children. As a side note I am letting Elias sleep on my chest now. I love how you decided on sonnet as your form. Thank you for this poem. Jamie

      My pleasure. So happy you visited and liked it. I gave it to a husband where I am going to recite tonight (Sufi night), he gave it to his wife and she really liked it. They asked if it was mine. I laughed. How were they to know that all my works are original..?

      Yes, I have a line there for Elias sleeping on your chest. (smile)I think that this is a most wonderful thing to do. God bless, my Friend.
