Ode to a Smelly Rose
Smiling and talking
to everybody but me.
Singing and showing
to attract others
by superficial wit and charm.
Falsified smiles
kind words
insincere concern,
like a Venus Fly Trap
luring your next prey.
The shiniest façade
cannot dare hide
a stench so powerful
an ugliness so surreal
a nature unable to deny.
Underneath the beautified skin
and flowerily décor
spots of rotten flesh
shine through
And every now and then
mostly all the time
your stink takes up the room
causing everyone to leave.
Ode to a smelly rose
how you must think
people love you so.
