Ode To An Old Bicycle

Updated on April 11, 2012

Ode To An Old Bicycle

The progress of simple machines

Slumps lifeless in my garage

Ashamed of training wheels

The pride of triathlons

Better days have

Come and gone

Chains rain has rusted

Long for grease

To ease the strain

Of being neglected

Pain of rejection

The front tire busted

Limp rubber covers

A bent rim

The brakes squeal

For adjustment

Handle bars that

Once dodged cars

Covered in cobwebs

The petals desire feet

To animate the tired beast

That yawns in the corner

Humans make fickle friends

Such short attention spans

Glory is a memory traded

For ease of transportation

Combustible engines

Stationary bikes in gyms

Designed only for exercise

To firm rear ends

Gluteus and thighs

Nobody wants to ride

An old bicycle

Dreams of country sides

To grip the warm pavement

Of crowded city streets

Yet to ride again

Is only fantasy

Now you just reminded me that I have to go clean my bike sometime this week! When I ride my bike, I can hear the chain making some noise.

Great hub by the way!And I like the photos
