Oh Great River

Updated on September 15, 2013

Oh Great River You Amaze Me

Starting Life As A Tributary

Gathering Pace You Flow Free

Washing All The Way To The Sea

Oh Great River You Amaze Me

Passing By Sleepy Villages And Fields

You Are Often Never Seen

I See You And You Will Always Be Real To Me

The Freedom You Possess To Run As You Please

Oh How I Wish That Was Me

Oh Great River You Amaze Me

Never Stopping To See What We Can See

Your Cargo Spilling Into The Sea

Oh Great River You Amaze Me

The Secrets You Behold Will Remain Yours Never To Be Told

Ending Your Flow As You Mix With The Ocean

What Happens Now To Your Free Flowing Motion

The River Nene

This is the first poem I have written since being at school and I hope it will be the first of many.

I've only written 4 or 5 short poems. Yours are plain like mine maybe it's because we are both Bitish.

    Good work

I think you have to get into it and practice often to become good.

Nice poem. I love to walk along the riverside with my dog and family. Love the scenery of the green trees hanging at the banks and boats passing by. The sound of running water and its blue green color. Thanks.
