Oh, What I Am...

By Tony DeLorger © 2014

I am relentless, regardless,
impervious to rejection,
commensurate with an open heart,
defying gravity, direction,
I weave and duck at times get stuck,
but in the end I'm out of luck,
my social climbing really sucks,
get far too much attention.

I'm inspiring, I'm hiring,
looking for a muse,
the core of what I'll write about,
not interested in news,
I prance, I dally,
get off on technicality,
and words just bleed what I put to seed,
and grow to actuality.

I'm candid, single handed,
I'm bland with retro standards,
but I've banded all I know and see,
to deliver a package that might be me,
I'm local, parochial,
a hermit with just no frills,
a mind apart, a broken heart,
and scars the size of anthills.

I'm brooding, amusing,
just factually bruising,
to lash myself, regards to health,
and see which bits still moving,
I'm shallow, a marshmallow,
I wallow and then swallow,
too deep to reach too thin to breach,
I'm sure I'll be better tomorrow.

I'm fast, to last,
empirically found a blast,
but contention found and sometimes sound,
perhaps I'm in the past,
I'm bleak, unique,
working on my physique,
every day is judgement day,
and now I'm up the creek.
...sigh!

If you can't laugh at yourself,

who can you laugh at?

Hi whonu, nice to hear from you. Wrinkles I have, on many levels, and I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. Take care my friend and thanks for dropping by!

Tony, my friend, here you have given some insight as to how each of us may have many of the same wrinkles to our own personality. Well expressed. whonu

"I'm brooding, amusing, just factually bruising." I appreciate the many faces in poetry and pictures. Well done!

Why thank you for your attention; a simple play with words for fun was what you read. If you want more of my perceptions about myself, then you'll have to read more of my poetry; its all there in black and white.

A delicious menu of self-flagellation, insidious insights, and gratuitous grandiosement... Free-flowing stanzas of eclectic innocence...Interesting, but lacking depth...Let us know how you really perceive yourself...You opened the can, now let the worms out...

This is great Tony. I've missed reading your poetry, but what a comeback! You are right, we have to be able to laugh at ourselves. This is a no holds barred personal reflection. I don't think I could do it, so well done. Voted up.
