Oh No Not Him (limerick)

Updated on July 24, 2012

They came to bid their friend goodbye

His soul now in heaven does fly

Such tales they’d unfurl

Of this youthful pearl

They lost him to girl who said hi

Wow, what a way to go. Sounds like he should have thought twice about saying Hi back.

I took as a story between friends who lost their buddy to a girl. Maybe the picture is a little misleading in this case, M. A good limerick, nonetheless.

I'm choosing to ignore the fact that it's obviously about a funeral and congratulate you on the potential double meaning of your work.

If you hadn't made it clear it was a funeral, I would have guessed that it could also be seen as his past self is dead and he has become an entirely new person, floating in the heaven of a new relationship and letting go of all the things that defined him before the girl said hi.

Many a friendship has been dissolved by the wink of an eye and an innocent "hi."
