On A Wing and a Prayer: An inspirational poetry collection from the heavens

Updated on August 16, 2016

This poem explains the rainbow bridge that God created for all beloved pets who had crossed over throughout the years.

Fluttered Wings

Thanks for being great Hub friends and supporters of my angelic poetry. (Even from my acrostics collection, that I will post later this summer and fall.) This new angel poetry book is dedicated to my beloved cat Marshall, who I had to put to sleep at 4:32 PM last Tuesday, due to a feverish infection and a huge abscess on his neck near his brain, presumably from a bug bite or bee sting. After ten-and-a-half years together, he crossed over the rainbow bridge at age sixteen-and-a-half. RIP Marshall. This is also dedicated to those who lost their beloved pets through the years.

Be inspired to count your blessings and talk to the angels in heaven

On a Wing and A Prayer and Duties of All Angels

On a Wing and a Prayer

When there’s a turning point in your life,
The fork of the road is always there, if no crossroads,
Everyone has to make their life’s decisions at some point,
Have something to look forward to, than to look back.

Time is man’s angel to direct and guide us through rough patches,
Just like in a flight, there’s turbulence to get us through,
Embrace yourself for some angelic guidance to get you there safely,
On a wing and a prayer, God’s messengers are your safeguards.

Angel quote: “Time is man’s angel.”—Johann Christoph Von Schiller

Duties of All Angels

An angel has many assignments per task,
Whenever in need, just send a prayer and ask,
Dispense and administer divine acts of kindness,
Bail all out of trouble and clean up the mess.

An angel regards our safety and protect all from harm,
May it be from danger, or even in a storm,
Undertakes our defense, when it’s Judgement Day,
Makes sure purgatory won’t head our way.

Direct our ways from good and evil, too,
Exercises a constant solicitude for all so true,
Makes all pure, innocent and healthy for everyone,
For evil befall us, as duties of all angels begun.

Angel thought #16: “The angels are the dispensers and
administrators of the divine beneficence toward us;
they disregard our safety, undertake our defense,
direct our ways, and exercise a constant solicitude
that no evil befall us.”—John Calvin

Peaceful Music and Orbital Magnetism

Peaceful Music

Heaven hates to lose our people in war,
All we wish and long for, is we shall find peace,
We won’t get anywhere in blood loss and death,
Listen, when we shall hear the angels.

Sighing, crying, mourning, praying,
God turns His body to Mother Earth,
With instruments and vocal music songs,
We shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.

Angel thought #43: “We shall find peace.
We shall hear the angels,
We shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.”—Chekov

Orbital Magnetism

The classic angels are like the sun, as the moths around the taper,
And they connect to us, as the gnats around a visible vapor,
In Heaven, their moonshine-like liquor is an ambrosiac drink,
So airy, uplifting, and powerful to contemplate and think.

They’re drawn to God, as the bees around a vibrant red rose,
When it’s their heavenly meeting its northern spirits group close,
On a table, they go round of an angelic and holy childhood,
It’s who drinking its repose . . . of who’s bad and who’s good.

Angel quote: “As the moths around a taper,
As the bees around a rose,
As the gnats around a vapour,
So the spirits group and close
Round about a holy childhood,
as if drinking its repose.”—Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Two Sides and Little Orbs

Two Sides

There’s two sides of the spectrum of the world,
There’s two sides to every single told story,
There’s two forces battling each other,
And there’s two sides to every single coin.

Goodness with virtues and innocence in Heaven,
Angels see only the light, the white light,
Evil with sin, crime and guilt in Hell,
And devils only the darkness, the void.

Angel thought #77: “Angels see only the light,
and devils only the darkness.”—Jakob Bohme

Little Orbs

When you go to sleep at night and rest,
Let your worries fade away and disappear,
Preserving your energy to the test,
Worry not, and have no such fear.

Little eyelids,cease your wrinkling,
Little orbs, forget to beam,
Little soul to slumber sinking,
Let the angels rule your dream.

Angel thought #79: “Little eyelids, cease your winking;
Little orbs, forget to beam; Little soul, to slumber sinking,
Let the angels rule your dream.”—Eugene Field

Dream Catcher and Guiding Light

Dream Catcher

While shepherds watched their flocks by flight,
The Angel of the Lord from Heaven came down,
Protecting livestock and the people all night long,
Dissipating evilness like a dream catcher.

Angels are seated on the ground, praying,
And the glory shone around the area,
Warmth spread all over like an invisible forcefield,
Rays of light in yellowish-white glowed.

Angel quote: “While shepherds watch’d their flocks by night,
All seated on the ground. The Angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around.”—Nahumtate

Guiding Light

When writing poetry, sprites guide my pen to write His words,
When shooting film or pictures, guardian angels direct my camera,
When sculpting figurines and ceramics, God’s messengers point my clay,
They’re my muse, my inspiration, my own original creativity and guiding light.

When painting art, angels guide my brush for a masterpiece,
Something heavenly often appears to me with a golden aura,
Never did I imagine to be spiritually creative and innovative,
And write, shoot, paint or maybe sculpt wonderful things.

Angel quote: “When angels guide my brush,
something heavenly oft appears.”—Angela House

Guardian Charges and All-Knowing Serenity

Guardian Charges

A guardian angel is your white lighter,
Protecting their charges over his life presiding,
Doubling his pleasures, gaining wisdom,
And all of his cares be dividing.

Watching from Heaven on a set of clouds,
Talking to God about the goodness in his soul,
Singing songs, playing harps, describing your name,
So when it’s time for your arrival, things be under control.

Angel thought #81: “A guardian angel o’er his life presiding,
Doubling his pleasures, and his cares dividing.”—Samuel Rogers

All-Knowing Serenity

In the firmament, it’s angels, we have heard on life,
Spreading peace through a blanket of lyrical warmth,
The water swell, the animals retreat, and the mountains sigh in reply,
Mother Nature be calm for the moment in time.

They’re all be singing sweetly through the night,
Playing music, describing our language, hearing new tongues,
With God’s response of His messengers echoing their brave delight,
Writing a list of innocent souls to be welcomed into eternity.

Angel quote: “Angels, we have heard on high
Singing sweetly through the night,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their brave delight.”-French Christmas carol

So sorry about your beloved Marshall. I hope you will love again when you are ready, as there are so many kitties in shelters who need a loving heart. This is a beautiful tribute.

I lost my Best Cat Ever, my dear Sheppard, due to throat cancer in June. I always thought I'd lose him due to his progressive neurological illness which affected his back legs (oddly it manifested similar to MS). We were soulmates and I was blessed with him for 14 years. In the end he crawled up next to me and let me know that it was time to go home. I had him euthanized. Oh, I miss him like crazy.

Thanks Flourish. I miss him much. Thanks so much. I do have his brother Wylie with him for a good couple of years. Aww. So sad. Marshall told me he wasn't feeling well 2 weeks ago, when he gave me his paw. Then it had trouble walking and couldn't walk. Poor Sheppard.

An amazing tribute to your best friend. Ten years is a long time to love and lose and I know the heartbreak of losing animals who we love like members of our own family. R.I.P Marshall.

This was most inspirational. I know that angels are all about. Sorry about Marshall but you know he is up there in heaven's meadows chasing butterflies and as happy as can be. When we lost our first cat it was devastating and she died in my arms. We had her for 12 years. For awhile until we adopted another cat I felt her tail, saw her in shadowy form so keep a feel and a look out for Marshall. Then our new cat Sid came and I no longer saw her and figured she knew we were doing alright. Now recently I have seen her again and it is comforting she remembers. I know Sid has seen her and if she comes in spirit form and wants to be in the spot he is he lets her have that spot. These things are not really understandable but they are wonderful and amazing.

Gypsy, thanks for commenting and sharing your story. I'm hanging in there and still have his brother Wylie with me (hopefully for another couple of years), since he's also 16.5 years. I once saw Marshall in a dream recently.

I understand your reference to angels only being able to see the good and light. They were made for one purpose and I guess it is a good thing for us. They can only do good.
