On August 4 Mark Duggan died

Updated on August 10, 2011

On August 4
Mark Duggan died
shot by a cop
who ‘feared’ for his life

But of course this here
policeman lied
Mark was harmless
yet he died

Death squad with a badge
a fascist regime
that kills and tortures
completely unseen

About 400 died
at the hands of this force
the past 10 years
without remorse

Not one conviction
for their crimes
whilst leaving a trail
of blood behind

Now who are the criminals
I’m asking you
the government and
the police are too

Getting away
with whatever they do
and in the end
they are blaming you

On August 4
Mark Duggan died
shot by another
cop who lied

I've linked you to my hub Should Internet Access Be Free for Everyone as I mention the role of social media in the riots. Thanks for this thoughtful reflection on the life of Mark Duggan. Voted UP!

Hi Eva-Lynn, thank you for your comment.

That is a very good question which is very hard to answer I'm afraid. And you're more than welcome.

      Love and hugs.

Why is it that we need to feel and want to feel protected by the police, yet they make us doubt their ability to protect us? There are so many good cops out there who are being cheated of our support when those 'quick to shoot now and ask questions later' make us judge them wrongly. Thanks for your article.

bold, honest, and so sad. I have had bad experiences with law enforcement in the past myself. I plan to start police training in January in hopes to get a look on the inside. I want to be a positive force in a world i have mostly been against.
