Dieting Failures--a Poem

Words, wordplay, reading, and writing have been favorites of Liz's since early childhood. She enjoys exploring science and science fiction.

On Why Diets Fail

Vegetables, grains and breads

are tasty, to be sure.

As healthy foods,

they top the list for dieters to chew.

Alas, alack, and woe to all

who would shed pounds;

As tasty as these morsels are,

both vegetables and fruits,

They somehow do not pack the punch

of foods we do not need.

But when every fiber of your being

Is screaming for hot fudge,

Somehow that lovely orange

or very healthy celery stick

Simply...

WILL

NOT

DO!

More Reading on the Topic

In a more serious bent, I've penned an article on how to actually lose weight and keep it off. The above bit of fluff expresses the frustration many dieters suffer rather regularly. In the serious article, though, I explain why giving up everything is not the best idea.

Oh boy how true, the best plan is to keep the junk food out of the cart, oh I wish they didn't make that stuff... so tempting AND yet so bad for us. I like your fluff bit as well, got a good chuckle... Peace :)
