One Big Splash Can Be So Much Fun

Updated on September 15, 2011

How Long Do I Have To Wait

I wake from a sound sleep to hear the soft tapping sounds on the roof

I roll over and toss my pillow over my shoulder and then stick my head underneath

Rain, I didn't know it was going to rain as I talk to myself in a incoherent mumble

Will it rain all day and tomorrow too

Then I hear a roar like the sky has opened up and the rain is pounding down on the ceiling above

Actually the roof but like I said I am not awake yet

A deep sigh and then I try to open my eyes

No chance of opening my eyes and any sign of sight

I sleep for another twenty minutes

Then the alarm goes off for the second time

The first time I quietly without too much effort shut if off

No I am wrong again

I just hit the snooze button so I can be tortured in a few more minutes

This time the weatherman said a beautiful day sunny and in the eighties

How could that be..

Now I hear the wind whislte as if it was an alarm sounded to let me know the window was about to break

Back to the weatherman how could it be so nasty outside and he was saying sunny and almost hot

I know the weathermen can be wrong

They get paid no matter what

I bet if it was a weatherwoman she would get it right

They know these things that men don't

They always have their unbrella ready just in case

I could hear it now the forecast for today is sunny and bright

But I don't trust it for a minute

If I were you I would keep your unbrella handy it looks like rain

Womans intuition and make sure your kids get dressed for the weather

Don't forget their little water boots

Sure enough not even an hour later

Unexspected showers that could last all morning

Did I tell ya

Were you listening when I said rain

Once again woman do somethings better than men

I can here the cars pass by my bedroom window running through the water

When I was young I loved it then

You would head out in the rain like it was something you have never seen before

Splashing through every puddle we saw and even going out of our way for a few more

Nothing but pure fun

Sure our sneakers would be wet and our socks too

That is the price we had to pay for happiness so early in the morning

      Hi Dream On,

I think we should fire that weatherman, he is always getting it wrong :-) I love listening to the rain when I don't have to get up, but one of these days I am going to smash that alarm clock into smitherines! I could just lie and listen to the rain all day. It did used to be fun to splash through those puddles...

      Have a great day,

Awesome. Loved it. Voted up and interesting. I lived in a house once with a tin roof, and when the rain came was something magical.
