One Taste

One taste of love, one taste of you

Happy, laughing, sad, and weeping

Each kiss treasured, each touch missed

Alone, barely breathing or beating

Damaged, hurt, and time for healing

Always kept guessing and reaching

Beauty in love, one taste of love

A lifetime of growth long ahead

Only one chance, this one chance

My heart in loss does dread

One taste of you, one taste of love

And may tears of love be shed

Sitting, thinking, one taste of you

One taste is all my heart took

Singing sweetly songs of poetry

Like an earthquake my heart shook

Happy, laughing, sad and weeping

One taste of love my lips readily took

One taste of love, one taste of you

May this sweet taste be everlasting

In my heart, now and for eternity

Learning, living, growing, laughing

In my heart, part of my existence

Of your love my life is singing

The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart

— Helen Keller

You are a wonderful poet Ashley... this piece is so beautiful; I long to be in that kind of love again... but only if reciprocated

Nice piece - a lot of feeling behind those words
