The confliction of the poet

Updated on August 14, 2015

If only I could find the feeling
one and the same
Of that that comes from writing to you
while this other seems so lame

Around humanity loneliness expands itself
blooming like so many weeds growing to task
And yet in nature I feel complete so
why love in solitude I ask

As a child I ran quickly to the escape
the tree line at the edge of the fields
or up and along the river
the dog was at my heels

if I could only touch another person
as if the wet of river were flesh
then love might just save the man
where nature and humanity enmesh

But the poet is a lonely existence the writer
a yearning trade
If only I could sell this living
all my riches would be made

A sunrise picture dedicated to my writing friends......The Outer Banks N.C....
thank you for "being there "

Voted up and awesome. Nice sentiments. Yes, the poet is mostly alone with his or her emotions and thoughts and of course the muses for best friends. Enjoyed you wonderful poem Ed and wouldn't it truly be great if we could earn from all of the poems we create...

Nice heartfelt work my friend. Yes, the repayment for poets is in the response of their comrades, and in self satifaction.whonu

Oh how I an relate to your word here Ed. I could almost have written this myself. I particularly like this stanza "if I could only touch another person

as if the wet of river were flesh

then love might just save the man

      where nature and humanity enmesh"

A poet's life can be lonely and it would be nice to make a living from it.

Oh, how beautiful catching the sunrise despite the pensive sadness of this piece.

Did I tell you that you're one of my favourite poets here? :) Voting up and all, sharing and pinning.

      Love from the sky~
