One on One - poem

Updated on April 6, 2013
Source

One on one
Sight on sight
Gaze on gaze

Palm on palm
Breath on breath
Cheek on cheek

Lip on lip
Taste on taste
Tongue on tongue

Hands on hands
Touch on touch
Skin on skin

Chest on chest
Heart on heart
Beat on beat

Give on take
Sweat on sweat
Heat on heat

Moan on moan
Shout on cry
Sigh on sigh

Night on night
Day on day
Wish on wish

Dream on dream
Hope on faith
Trust on trust

Love on love
Life on life
One on one

James-wolve - thank you! i am so pleased that you appreciated the work I put into this. Once I begin a poem, I really do enjoy playing wityh words until I find the right ones.

Docmo - thank you for the lovely comment. sometimes when a poem comes to me, it is all about the sound and feel. sometimes i don't even know what it's about until i am nearly done writing. i am pleased to know that my method works, at least this time/.... always nice to see you.

CloudExplorer - Universal. If I could write something universal, and timeless, that is a dream. I still remember the first time I read so many poems written by those long gone and contemporary. If I could write just one thing like that!

Thank you for always taking the time to share your thoughts on my work so completely.... So happy to have you sharing this. I have never seemed to learn the art of self-promotion.

MichaelJohnMele - SWEET! I love rocks! So excited to be like one! And a magical kind at that. You know what they say: Crack is Whack! and I am one wacky gal!...

You have my cheeks blushing and my heart going pitter patter and my brain (what to happy brains do?) with that comment.... So thrilled to be your girl. I am more than happy to dish out the love. You deserve it. Luv ya! :)

@DanaTeresa oh I see how it is…I had to say something for you to show me some love…I get the leftovers…the sympathy love…I’m so hurt.

I’m only playing…you know you’re my girl…you’re the best of the best. You can’t blame me for wanting some Dana love though…you’re addicting…like crack…and I’m an addict.

Quite effective in its simplicity (something I always strive to do) and your words are also seductive, erotic and revealing.

ImKarn23 - Leslie, thank you so much for bringing the SOUL! I knew there was something missing, I had thought of it but it left my mind and wouldn't come back. Soul! I guess my mother was right when she said I don't have one....

Friend on friend, absolutely!... We'll save top on bottom for another poem. back on front. head on.. ok. enough of that

Glad you like that picture. I was at a loss for what I should put. Something just told me that one fit. Just a random photo I took of myself one summer.....

Your article - in a way - reminded my of what Octavio Paz said in "Labrinth of Solitude." He maintained the only time human beings are really as one was at the point of orgasm. At other times, we were seperate universes.

That intensity of emotion does meld two people as one for some seconds.

billybuc - Thank you for popping in practically as soon as I hit the publish button. That means a lot. When I started hubpages a poet was the last thing I thought I would become. But here I am a year later and I can't stop writing this stuff. I am so very happy that you enjoy it. It would be a shame if I wasted a year only to write crap! :)

You said a mouthful with a minimum of words. The sign, in my opinion, of an excellent poet. Very nicely done, Dana!
