One Moment More (poem)

Updated on October 1, 2015

What dreams are left without a hope of dawn

Two lovers holding fast onto the night

Uncertainty now masked by their delight

One moment more and this too will be gone

-

One moment more to kiss the last of light

As our hearts sore while lovers carry on

To distant shore again we call upon

And there we swore to hold this moment tight

-

We are the dreams that lighten their dismay

The quiet kiss when all has gone amiss

The breath of hope which scents their memories

-

One moment more a whisper from warm breeze

A kiss to bless the memory of this

And with the dawn two dreams are swept away

I really like these two lines especially:

We are the dreams that lighten their dismay

The quiet kiss when all has gone amiss

"One moment more"...something we all look for. It is never enough for as you've said "with the dawn two dreams are swept away".
