Operation Change The World (Ghayara Al Kalam) | Chap 2 Pt 2

Updated on January 13, 2011

11 November 2012, Tabriz University, Iran – “Ootavar! (Sergeant Major)” Col Samad Bakeri called towards his open office door.

“Sayed Sarhang! (Colonel, Sir!)”, answered Sergeant Major Hoosein Behrangi as he entered the Colonels office, and stopped just inside the door at attention waiting for Colonel Bakeri to give him his orders as he had done since Colonel Bakeri was a Lieutenant and he a Private nearly 30 years ago.

“Come sit down Sergeant Major, President Obama will soon be speaking on the current crisis in America, it may be instructive.”

While the Sergeant Major got comfortable in one of the brown leather chairs, Colonel Bakeri thoughts wandered between the paper copy of the power point briefing slides on his desk and the big Gnatt chart on his wall, both with the same title, “Operation Change The World”. He wondered if the US President had to sit through what must be endless “Power Point” briefings on all manner of subjects. Could, he wondered, America be run on a series of bullet points made by some faceless Colonel in a basement room like this? Maybe if the common link for all the peacemakers in the world were a shared hatred of Power Point, progress could be made. But then he thought, I would have nothing to do, except go back to my farm and be a gentleman farmer of hemp, and maize.

Colonel Samad Bakeri’s Office was well appointed, and had one of only a few hundred TVs in Iran that could receive unfiltered international satellite TV programming. So while it is situated in the basement of the engineering research building at Tabriz University, the reason for this was not because the school or the government wanted to hide his “Al Quds” office. In fact every student and faculty member of the university was made aware of its location for recruiting purposes. No information security was the reason. No, windows meant no prying eyes on information not meant for them. No electronic eavesdropping from sensitive microphones that can pick up vibrations off the panes of glass in the room.

His gaze fell on the two meter long Gantt Chart with the project time-line of Operation Change The World. The time-line blocks were all coming together and this broadcast would confirm what the current news reports and his field reports were indicating. Operation Change The World was on track and would soon be in full swing, and a major success for the Iranian Revolutionary Islamic Army, and Al Quds in particular.

“Am Shall’ah” he muttered.

“Sayed?” said SGM Behrangi.

“I said God Willing Sergeant Major.”

He fixed his attention to the TV and the Announcer said “Ladies and Gentlemen, The President of the United States.” When he saw the face of the US President he new God had blessed his Operation and that it would indeed Change The World…
