Our Apple Tree

Updated on July 30, 2015

Helping others avoid temptation....

Fictional poem.

Our Apple Tree

Glorious last spring, festooned with blossoms.

The sprayings and waterings,

The promised fruit near grown.

The neighbors saw them, too.

Red, ripe, delicious, God’s gift for the taking.

Forbidden fruit it’s true.

It’s mine. I could share with you.

It made me sad that you would lust and steal.

I should not tempt you so.

Spring came again, no blossoms there.

No gifts for the taking.

I saved you from the lust and theft.

The tree no longer stands.

Interesting to note: I "Unpublished" another Hub, and sometime later I searched for it on the web. It was not only recoverable using the title and my pen name, but it even showed the comments section!

The lesson: Once it is out there, it stays out there!

Thank you. Absolutely brilliant. I will explore the subject, find out what Martin does and make up a hub on apple wine.

Dear GRL: Did you do a Hub on how to make apple wine? Should be a popular subject.

Happens to the best of us. I too had an article which was published on a site and when I went to delete my articles I found a poem of mine that had many comments none of which I had ever seen or read. Perhaps there is something mystical about apple trees. This year the apples are coming in and more apple wine will be made. Hope you and yours are having a great weekend.

ImKarn23 - How can it be that 3 years ago I failed to respond to your comments and the comments of Michele Travis, BlossomSB, GypsyRoseLee, and cherylone, all dear friends then and now? Chances are I was lost in Huberville and down there trying to add something new to the Huberville Library.

Please forgive me one and all. Demas

Thought provoking indeed. I wonder where else you could go with this.

We have four apple trees and when they burst forth in blossom we have apple wine.

Fascinatingly ambiguous. Love it. It's still summer here and for the first time my apple tree has two tiny apples. I'll watch them grow and hope nobody steals them.

This is a very interesting poem and I liked it a lot. It does make one think about what they should do or not do. Thanks for this hub.

OOOOOO...Did you take away temptation, or just divert it? After all, he had already tasted of the forbidden fruit. Now..he's someone else's problem. Thought provoking! Thanks!
