"Our Steps"

Updated on February 2, 2013
Source

Welcome

A lazy day here, first helping a friend clear snow with the Bobcat then back again for some time to reflect and do some editing on the next novel already completed. But all in all a laid back weekend I hope.

We are really nice here today and just at the freezing mark and that fuzzy rodent missed his shadow this morning so maybe it is the signal of spring at last...

Gather around and lets see where this mind roams to today... poem five and for those who are following... thank you for putting up with my learning curve... know that I love you all dearly.

Our Steps

Our Steps

Our first steps we shake with something all new

We recall nothing of the world that only grew.

Our steps in this life are many abound

We have all tried and made this life sound.

We do have our doubts and many a fear

What is important we need to love those near.

The steps above if you look tell of life

Some steps are smooth others give fright.

Friends are our railings when we need to hold tight

They will be there no matter if it is day or night.

They will be there through thick and the thin

Will stand firm when in doubt right from begin.

Fear not to reach out and call for advice

It is what friends who love do making love so nice.

Often we travel up steps smooth and clear

It is what we call life and we hold it so dear.

For years I have climbed these twisted or straight

Yes some have judged and tried to berate.

For me it is care not what others may judge

The path I have chosen is mine of no grudge.

Have I slipped and fell yes many a time and roamed

Yet I know that I walk not alone.

When I turn and am unsteady where I find where I stand

When I turn I know there is a reassuring hand.

When caution is given your heart you must heed

For caution speaks steps should not proceed.

When in doubt reach out to a friend

A true friend will stand with through to the end.

Beautiful poem. What would life be like without a dependable friend?

I heard that the groundhog only hit it right either 36 or 39% of the time so we can only hope he was right this time. The sun was out her today but not early, so...just maybe.

Exceptionally beautiful poem dear Rolly! Love is the answer in this life, to love truly and deeply, never judging . . . My favorite scripture about friendship . . . and I may have already shared it with you but . . .

"Two are better than one . . . when one falls down, his friend can pick him up."

What a beautiful song. I really love Lady Antebellum.

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

As always, nicely done! I especially like the line, "The steps above if you look tell of life Some steps are smooth others give fright." Something I think we can all relate to. Thanks for all you do.

This is a beautiful and very meaningful poem, Rolly. I love the photo of the steps, too - it illustrates the theme of your poem perfectly.

Very nicely done. A beautiful song to go with it. Sometimes on a walk, it gets a little crowded. I guess I have a lot to be thankful for. Thanks for pointing that out.

I can certainly relate to that photo of steps as relating to life, Rolly. Very clever of you. Just be certain to hold on to the railing as you navigate them! :)

Hi Faith Reaper... you are so right about what the Bible says about being there for another when they struggle... it is such a simple and yet amazing concept...

Hugs and Blessings from a warm Alberta day...

Hi Carol... I do enjoy every day... It is not hard to live in the past and look to the future... yet the best part of life is living it in the moment and that is the day we find ourselves in...

A lovely poem and great images, too. I don't know how you manage to write a book and write on hubpages, too. To me, that's amazing! I write, but I'm still struggling to work out a balance.

Hi Lifegate... I think we have all been there at one time or another... the fright part... funny thing is when we live in the day we are in nothing seems impossible with Him.

Voted up and awesome. I agree with you a true and honest friend is a friend through thick and thin right till the end. So beautifully expressed. Loved the video and enjoyed the pic expressing hope of spring. Hugs. Passing this on.

Morning Eric... thanks for stopping and the comment... It is good to stop occasionally to stop and take a look around us and see where we are, reach out and say hello. Surprising who we find to reach out too or have another reach out to us.

Hi drbj... smiles... stairs like these require you to be careful, railings are good but walking together with one is even better. I often think back over life and the choices I made to walk alone. We stumble and make mistakes and yet knowing there is a helping hand out there is a blessing.

Hi Blossom... thanks for the comment. There are times when it becomes a balancing act to get things done. At the end of the day I seem to find the time. I have come to the conclusion that life is all about priorities, getting what needs to be done first and then having some fun...

Hi Gypsy... Thank you and you are so right... a true friend will stand with you through everything. What is so interesting is you will be there for them should the need come about.

Glad to hear you are getting the upper hand on winter, we are the same but there will be reminders before we are finished with the winter...
