Our Last Goodbye (poem)

Updated on October 4, 2015

My dear sweet friends so good of you to come

Again to share warm whispers of our past

A special moment ever meant to last

Let’s raise our glass and brush away the glum

Let’s share rich tears of Joy for all we did

Together as we weathered through the storm

Which we created while all others hid

We were the season others did conform

Without us there what hearts could start

To see what harmony is all about

Our confidence has fenced out doubt

There comes a time when we must part

We all need our repose and change of clothes

Just as we all require time to cry

Let’s close this precious moment and suppose

That we will never see our last goodbye

If we can manage to live in the memories of joy and harmony, that would work. Touching!

There is no more fantasy that I enjoy more than the delusion of permanence. And you have expressed it so vividly, the emotion jumping at me off the page! Yes...let us imagine!
