Our Lights (poem)

Updated on October 5, 2015

Like lights along a drifting distant shore

Our sight seemed somehow settled in our sea

Vast night near dreams of all we dared to be

Exciting fires flaming fans for more

-

Like kites that kissed the clouds of destiny

Each plight was passed with pirouettes which sore

Fair heights of heaven held here to explore

This bright bazaar became our ecstasy

-

Our passion passed our presence to control

New fashions flung far faster everyday

Each ration ripped ripe riches from our heart

-

Dawn soothed soft sighs upon a somber soul

And smoothes warm blankets where we once did play

Still lights will drift near shore while we’re apart

Martin, the metaphors and artistry of words are exquisite in this poem. Nice job!
