(Have You Ever Been) Out at the Crossroads ?

Updated on September 6, 2012

Have you ever been...Out at the Crossroads? If you have...you will know what I'm talking about in this Poem...One of my favorites of all time...Personal Poems of mine...that is. Honestly.

I have been way out on the Great Plains of Oklahoma...Honestly lost...and trying to read a Map...and having to double back...a couple of hundred feet at each major Crossroad Intersection...to go down it far enough to read the highway (farmroad) sign. That is truly being stuck at a Crossroad...by all senses of the word...not just figuratively.

But...I was out there figuratively...as well. My Life was like one big quiet and empty Crossroad...Out in the Middle of Great Plains, Oklahoma. I knew what a Crossroad was...I was staring at one...I was living one.

I went out somewhere on Faith...or Maybe just double-guessing what Faith was at the time. If you come from a background that has any part of talking about their Christian Walk with the Lord...then you know what I mean when I talk about stepping out on Faith. And...you also know the feeling of what it can be like if you are thinking you're just double-guessing...about being somewhere out on Faith.

Maybe...some Folks...just don't know what I'm talking about...or trying to say. When you are literally...out at an empty, quiet Crossroad...in the Middle of the Great Plains...You can understand exactly what it is like to be out at the Crossroads. You would understand exactly what it is...that I'm try to say...

I have been out at the Crossroads...many times!

Many are the Crossroads in Life...I Have Been At Them Many Times.

You Mean I'm At The Crossroads Again?

Shhh......! Stop and look around...

Don't wait too long...the sun is going down.

Out here...where two lanes cross to meet...

Out here...there is no name on any street.

Can you hear the Questions...that are all around?

At this place...where you can't possibly hear a civilized sound.

Too overwhelmed to call on God...I have nothing to say...

At the Crossroads...Words only get in the way.

Find the way you are suppose to go...

But you have not been there yet...So how do you know?

Do you go to the Left...or should you go to the Right...?

Why even try to think...I'll just stay stuck right here...at this...my latest plight.

What road do you take to make it to the next Crossroad?

Stuck here now...My mind carries another heavy load.

No one can wonder...No one can see...

If I choose the road...that is the right one for me.

Out at the Crossroads...I wound up here today...

I struggle here...Lord...Please Lord...Help show me the way !

I did not ever plan on...being stuck...so far out here...on my own...

This is the place...I dreamed of...but never knew...where I could die here...all alone !

Have you ever been out to the Crossroads...Far away?

I studied a Map...at each Crossroad...on many an Endless day.

Can not say...Even now...If I was ever on the right course...

It's not so bad out here at the Crossroad...though I'm sure...it could'nt get any worse.
