Life Can Sometimes Be as Empty as a Cape Cod Beach in the Off-season

Updated on May 28, 2013

Out of Sight. Out of Mind. So They Say

Source

Out of sight, out of mind.

You'll forget her, they said.

She's gone and yet I find,

she's still inside my head.

You don't forget a face

carved into your mind

and drawn on your eyes,

so you can see ev'ry line.

The soft voice that she has.

The lips that I have kissed,

Their shadows linger like a

never ending morning mist.

Her long, soft, and silky hair,

a golden frame for her face.

No other images can

even begin to replace.

That old saying's only half right.

Now that she's gone I find:

That she's out of my sight,

and I am out of my mind.

That's hard to hear. I was hoping one day I'd forget.

Sorry. The good news is our hearts are big and there is space for others. But that first real love! You can't totally forget it. You always wonder how different things would have been. If........

What's this, male bonding? :-} Sorry to break it up guys.

A beautiful emotive poem. Yes love hurts, but the great thing about the heart is that it heals, you will never forget but you will love again.

      Nice work.

Thankyou tobusiness. You are right, of course, on both counts....you don't forget, but you do heal.

You tend to gradually forget what you not see... Time does that to you... or sometimes you do that to yourself

      Great poem

Thanks for the comment rahul. Luckily for us, time is a pretty good healer. But the process is very slow.
