Life Can Sometimes Be as Empty as a Cape Cod Beach in the Off-season
Out of Sight. Out of Mind. So They Say
Out of sight, out of mind.
You'll forget her, they said.
She's gone and yet I find,
she's still inside my head.
You don't forget a face
carved into your mind
and drawn on your eyes,
so you can see ev'ry line.
The soft voice that she has.
The lips that I have kissed,
Their shadows linger like a
never ending morning mist.
Her long, soft, and silky hair,
a golden frame for her face.
No other images can
even begin to replace.
That old saying's only half right.
Now that she's gone I find:
That she's out of my sight,
and I am out of my mind.

You tend to gradually forget what you not see... Time does that to you... or sometimes you do that to yourself
Great poem
Truely beautiful and heartbreaking!
What's this, male bonding? :-} Sorry to break it up guys.
A beautiful emotive poem. Yes love hurts, but the great thing about the heart is that it heals, you will never forget but you will love again.
Nice work.
Yes Bill... I know this feeling you expressed so well
That's hard to hear. I was hoping one day I'd forget.
Having felt this way myself, this poem really speaks to me. Its hard to forget the one that got away.
