Over Time

Updated on January 22, 2012

It’s no surprise

to think of all

and wonder what

of love and sorrow.

Friendships fade

by passage of time

through the air

once my presence

becomes more liability than benefit.

Growing old

means I see

people plain

truth so dear

mistakes of youth

distant memories.

What can I give

nothing much

those who stay

accept me whole

fail to expect more than I am.

Users and abusers

fall by the way

confidence and security

of those held close

certain to continue

to the end.

Fickle hearts

selfish souls

dropped out of sight

shorten time

makes every day count.

Life is grand

without the weight

special moments

fill all my days.
