Overseer of Truth

Updated on July 7, 2011

The truth is a disease to the guilty, the provider of freedom to the innocent

A brief jostling of the mind brings about the need for the Overseer of Truth

He's come to me, a ha....come for me a number of times... already in my short stay

Judgement day is upon me, every waking day

I've slipped and slid through his muscly arms, I've grinned every chance I got

I've been a thief, a mastermind, to get the lot I got

The day will come when I will run no more, when redemption leaves through my front door

My sins they shroud me from the truth I so hastily run from

They will falsely keep me from my fate, I have believed them for so long

The Overseer, he's dangerous, for he's truly never wrong

I've seen the light, the god awful truth, there's no way I could not

My eyes they must have been crossed, they must have been bloodshot

My epiphany, my saving grace, it came to me in an Angel's voice

It said to me "You can, You will, You do"

It seemed to me I could move along, I could get through life with a second shot

I can .... begin again

I will ...... start all over

I do ...... deserve another chance

He's waiting for my transformation, my escalation of faith

A higher power reigning down on me, staring down into my face

What am I to do? Other than to keep up pace?

He expects a swift result, anything less would be remiss

He's a funny one, no jokes does he tell

A swift response, and he'll leave you well

A slow reward, one he gets, he'll strike us down for he knows best

The Overseer of Truth has found me once, once too many times

Another chance I will not get, the truth is the right path

You might do well not to forget!

My five year old has to my horror started calling people liars. He might as well cuss for the way it makes me jump. For him, it just means you said something that did not end up that way. For me it is a great slap to be called anything less that truthful. The truth of it I'm sure lies somewhere between.

My, just turned, 4 yr old has done the same.... to her grandmother. Ah well... they see the justice in their words. Grandmother would do well not to promise ice cream without putting up boundaries first..lol.

Wow, an overseer of lies is not what is needed. But a harbringer of honesty. Great hub. :)
