PMT - A Poem In A Bad Mood

Updated on July 24, 2012
Source

WHAT did you say?

Why is everyone

So mean today?

It must be something

In the air,

But I swear,

If one more person

Looks at me that way....

Hang on

What's that?

It's me?

I must have PMT?

HOW DARE YOU!

Oh that's right,

Now I'm going to cry,

Do you feel better now

For being a pig,

I don't know why...

You see this feeling

Inside

Right in my gut,

Makes me feel so...

.....

Angry!

At I don't know what!

So anyway,

I'm going to bed

Because earlier

I banged my head

So now I've got a headache!

It happened right after

I tripped

On your shoes...

And I just can't seem to

Shake these blues...

What's that?

A glass of wine you say?

Maybe you're right,

It may be just the ticket,

To end this plight!

Yes it might!

DISCLAIMER

I am in no way advocating the use of alcohol for treating the symptoms of PMT (or PMS as it's properly called).

I know that pre-menstrual syndrome can be a serious condition that many women suffer with and there are many ways to treat it without "hitting the bottle".

For instance, a healthy diet helps, as can evening primrose oil.

I just like wine....

And I don't really suffer with a bad mood this bad every month...

Thank you for reading!

LOL. This was very silly, but it had a pretty good rhythm to it.

...I love when you're in a bad mood Jennifer because creatively speaking you are so witty and so much fun ...... to let loose this poetic tirade in such a beautiful and spontaneous way - don't worry men get 'PMS' too - from drinking too much beer and watching way too much football on the 'tele' - lol - out on the deck right now having my green tea in our Canadian summer with burgers on the grill - will come back later on this evening for another visit - bye for now - lake erie time 5:43pm

Aww thanks Epi, It's funny but I never considered myself a poet, but now as soon as I start feeling any kind of emotions in my head I'm wording a poem, I need to keep a pen and paper with all the time, because often I forget!

Thanks for visiting my friend, Its Saturday-morning-with-a-slight-hangover-and-not-had-breakfast-yet.... :-) Best wishes from the riverbank in England, Jen

I love your disclaimer and yet decry the fact that you had to add it....heaven forbid someone just enjoy your work rather than pick at it and find something that isn't politically correct. :) Well done my friend!

Thanks Billy, the disclaimer was an afterthought, I suddenly imagined loads of comments telling me how irresponsible I was and suggesting treatments for PMS... lol Thanks for visiting, take care, Jen

Haha, I can identify with this! Sometimes this condition can wreak havoc with both the body and the mind.

Thank you Kathryn, I'm glad you enjoyed it! You are quite right, I think once we realise what's causing it we feel a bit better, unless it's your husband that's pointed it out of course.. lol... All the best!
