POEM: Bloody River

Updated on August 19, 2011

Bloody River:

Watching intently from underneath the shadow
A life slideshow of what was once beautiful and still
Numbness crawls upwards approaching the waistline
Pulling
Twisting
Yanking
Sucking me deeper
Suffocating me with emptiness
Extinguishing once butterflies and petals rose

As light narrows high
I breath one last wail
Captive I'm held by the wretched
Mast extended,
Down the twisted bloody river of mistakes I sail
