Past Kisses (poem)
Remember kisses we shared in our past
Two youthful lovers in stardust were cast
No signpost in sight how long this would last
Just minds set awhirl and hearts beating fast
-
Each day brought meaning a gentle contrast
Our eyes couldn’t see if dark clouds were massed
Our Joy and a kiss warm shelter would be
And so hand in hand enchantments we passed
-
Then in a spring time this question so vast
Will you take this ring and wear it for me
There I would learn about infinity
And when you said yes such images blast
-
And our years would pass so happy and free
As each morning past new dreams we would see
Each look in your eyes a new fantasy
But what paid the cost for all this to last
-
Remembering back the answer would flee
Something had changed mid eternal glee
Our grandeur and laughter they paid the fee
Past kisses faded into memory
